Steel Playing on Earl Scott Song

This is one of my favorite steel solos. The recorded tone is clear and crisp but without a hint of harshness and somehow still full sounding. Great timing on the delayed notes and nice volume pedal work. NO idea who the steel player is but the ending sounds a bit like Lloyd Green.

It sounds like Buddy Charleton to me...beautiful!

Steve beat me to it. I went to YouTube after hearing this clip and listened to Buddy on several clips and I agree.

Yup, definitely Charleton! And very reminiscent of the playing he did in Loretta's "The Home You're Tearin' Down".

Interesting discussion. I know I've heard that exact ending riff a few other places by a popular steel player but can't place it. Perhaps it was on one of ET's old 45 rpm records.

Here's a cut I made on my Fractal Axe 3 trying to get close to Charlton's sound. It could use a bit more reverb!
