Image Billy Robinson passed away last Friday morning. He is an icon who played for Red Foley, replacing Jerry Byrd in the last 1940’s. Billy played on the Prince Albert portion of the Grande Ole Opry and was playing steel behind Hank Williams on his Opry debut. Billy recorded “ I Overlooked An Orchid” with Carl Smith, “Candy Kisses”with George Morgan, and on many other hits with Red Foley and others.
Billy was a good friend and wonderful player. He is missed not only by me, but all who knew and loved this gentle spirit. Rest In Peace, old friend, until we meet again on the other side.

I trust today's memorial was special.
When I worked for Bobbe Seymore, Billy would come by sometimes and I thought of him as a sign graphics professional and didn't know he played steel.
Some years later, I saw/heard his playing on a video and was just blown away. His bar slants, amazing!!!
