The Palomino's Marty Robbins Door

Does any one know the story/history of the weird construction of the stage door
at the Palomino Club in North Hollywood? It's really unusual because you have
to enter the stage it from outside of the club. Really looks out of place being
in back of the drummer! I heard it was called the Marty Robbins Door because he
would not perform if he had to walk through the audience to get to the stage.
Supposedly the Thomas brothers agreed to the construction as part of the agreement
for his performance. If true, what a hoot!

My understanding was that Marty had them build the door in so that he could park his bus in the lot right next to the building and go directly from the bus to the stage.

Peter is correct... that was the reason. Went in and out of it more times than I can count...
It also made it easy to jump back on to the stage after spending your breaks in the parking lot doing....whatever.

Great answer cuz the story I heard had "ego" attached to it and I never felt that was Marty.
Mahalo for the keerect answer. Loved the old Pal, especially when Cliffie was the MC. I'll
take your explanation off line Skip for your statement: . . "made it easy to jump back on to
the stage after spending your breaks in the parking lot doing....whatever." Haha.
