Happy early birthday to me. I know it’s been said before, but Todd is a master craftsman. This guitar feels great, sounds great, looks great and is a joy to play - I haven’t been able to put it down. I chose a long scale 7 string with vintage appointments. If you’ve been on the fence regarding ordering one of Todd’s guitars, I can’t recommend them enough.

Congratulations, Pete. You'll love it. Like Jim, I have a long scale 8-string. Of the dozens of steels I've owned it's the best of the bunch, perfect in every way.

I've been using Mark Roeder's Deluxe 34 stands for years. His brackets for frying pan are perfect, and work equally well for Rickenbacher Bakelites, Silver Hawaiians, etc.

Thanks Ian. My friend Sean Allen has one of those stands for his Bakelite Ricky....we had twin steels on the gig last night!

Welcome little Sister - got mine on Friday - amazing! I dig the mirror polish and the satin finish neck. The proportions are perfect. I could hear her singing before I freed her from the box. What a voice! Congrats Todd on the new shop. This Elektro is a perfect compliment to her husky brother. — gotta go practice
Thanks All

Oh GEEZE! My dream steel. Do I need to ask him to make another while he’s at it?

Glad we're keeping Todd busy with these!
It really is a fantastic steel guitar. Mine is the long 8, I think number 24.
Nigel had it right but he needed to be holding a frypan instead of a 59 Les Paul:
Nigel Tufnel: The sustain, listen to it.
Marty DiBergi: I don't hear anything.
Nigel Tufnel: Well you would though, if it were playing.

My band The Catnip Brothers had a lovely gig yesterday evening in the Moreland neighborhood of Portland and was lucky enough to have both Rusty Blake and Jeremy Wakefield on dueling steels. Super fun gig, despite the fact that we all look like we’re in a bad mood in this photo. Anyways, both Rusty and Jeremy had a chance to play my new Clinesmith frypan and sang it’s praises, Wakefield saying it was the best new lapsteel he’s ever played. Todd’s really got something special going on with these!

OK........you identified 2 of the catnip brothers, which one are you out of the other 3? Just curious, I like to put faces to the names. If I had to take a stab at it, I would say you are the 3rd from the left. The 2 steel players have cowboy boots on, and so does the 3rd guy......Please tell me I guessed right.

You are correct! From left to right: Rusty Blake, Jeremy Wakefield, myself, Brent Martens and Ian Miller. If I’m not mistaken, Rusty built both of the steels pictured - a triple and a double.

I’d like to see The Captain Brothers. Post a clip please!
I too am patiently awaiting a Clinesmith frypan.
