Remembering a fallen great, Buddy "Big E" Emmons, passed on July 21, 2015. Me (behind Big E's left shoulder) and my band Elvis Montana backed Buddy up at a Tom Bradshaw produced show in Los Angeles, summer of 1981 I think. Anyone know the exact date?

I hear ya John. He used to live nearby me and we crossed paths at stores etc. Every now and again I still drive by his old house. He is surely missed by the steel community. Youtube ,recordings, The upcoming book,(can't wait),The new Emmons steels, and folks playing his songs will keep his legacy front and center for many years. JK

Hey John,
My friend and ex bandmate Frank Michels thinks it was 1983 or 1984 … 😉

Unfortunately that is also my birthday. So it's forever engraved in my brain as I grow older. A heavy loss to our world.

Who'd you guys back? Frank is likely right on the dates, I'll have to see if Google knows all in that regard. We had a great time putting together our band, Elvis Montana. Talented cat.

Hey John,
Frank and I toured together for a number of years with Michelle Wright.
(She’s a great singer/performer and a Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame member).
You’re right … Frank is a huge talent!
These days, he puts it to good use, mostly recording demos for independent songwriters.
We still hang out, and I still work with Michelle after some 30 years.
