I have an Excel Superb and I'm having trouble tuning the knee levers. After I finish tuning the high F# and the D string levers, the open string is then out of tune. I'm holding the levers in position when I adjust the rods. I can't find any info on this on the Excel website or in a general google search.

Any time the tuning of levers or pedals results in detuning of an open string you have to suspect overtuning. See my sticky at the top of this section.

First thing that comes to mind, Not enough Travel on knee lever pull rods.
Are the problem strings the exact same size as before?
May take moving the pull rod on the bell crank 1 or more holes farther from the cross rod to give the pull rod more travel. Be sure to draw a diagram or take pictures of the bell crank, Before moving a bell a crank pull.

Good Luck in finding the problem and the cure and back Happy Steelin.

I bought this guitar about a year ago or so and haven't played it much. it has been fine, but I'm now making some tuning changes. String 1 was originally tuned to rise from F# to G. Now I want it to go up a whole step. That's where the problem was discovered. Also string 10 was originally tuned to go down B to A. Now trying to tune it to Bb causes the same problem.

Thanks Jon Light, I believe your sticky provides the answers to my questions!
