The Oklahoma Steel Show 2021 is in the books. Thanks to President Beverly Harris and her staff for all the hard work involved in putting the show together. My friend Dustin Harp and I had a great weekend being there. I met some folks I had never met before and heard a lot of great playing. The staff band was top notch as usual. Thanks Beverly for inviting me to play a slot on the show. I consider it an honor to be invited to play any show or club meeting. Oh yeah, that 16 year old Jack Phillips just blew my mind. How can anyone be so young and play at the level he does? The future of steel guitar is in good hands.

Paul, we were so glad you came and your set was spot on as always. We appreciate you Texas folks coming and supporting our little organization. It sounds like the show was fairly successful and we are already talking about ideas for next years show. Looking forward to watching young musicians like Jack progress as this is our musical future. Well I had a great time and got to witness some excellent talent and a great show. Paul King is a new acquaintance for me and he delivered the goods on that fine Emmons pedal steel. Marty Neer never fails to knock your socks off with some effortless playing of country classics. Keven Jones and his wife did an outstanding job of keeping the show exciting. Keven not only plays great pedal steel and smoking Telecaster but can sing a few with his lovely wife Chastity. And wow can that girl sing. Young Jack Phillips can handle the steel very well and impressed the old dogs on his 65 Emmons. Mike McGee did his usual fabulous steel rendering and then filled in on lead and rhythm guitars to balance out the band. Of course the rest of the players did not disappoint. Rick Crow, Beverly Harris, Jerry Foster, Larry Garrett, Gene Crain, Wayne Morton, Terry Wood, Tony Tipton and several others I can't remember all the names of. All in all it was a spectacular show that should not be missed. Thanks Beverly and crew, including Rich McDonald, Ed Doty, Will Clark and keyboard master Roy Rosetta for making another memorable weekend.

After a small issue with the PA was resolved, all was good.
Everyone played great and I for one, had more fun than I've had in several years, not just because of the Covid layoff. However, I was more tired in one day than I used to be after the whole two or three day show. I came home Saturday, got to bed about 11:00 P.M. I got up at 11:00 A.M. Took a nap in the afternoon and went to bed Sunday about 10:00.
Like I said, everyone player extreme well, and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.
We hope to see everyone of you again next year.
Rick
Tired, me too

Due to wanting to visit/meet everyone who attended the show, I put 4.03 miles on my cowboy boots on Friday On Saturday, I was too tired to check but I had bleeding toes. It was great getting to see/meet folks. If I didn’t meet you, please come again next year and let me know when you get there.

I had a great time at the Oklahoma Steel Guitar show last weekend. I'd like to thank Beverly and the association for inviting me. If The Good Lord allows me along with the OSGA we'll do it again next year and Beverly, like Barbara said, she will bring her apron...
