Anyone know who the steel player is with Emmy 1984?

Instruments, mechanical issues, copedents, techniques, etc.

Terrific video off of youtube. At 12:54, there's a beautiful break on a ZB (what a tone!) by the gentleman in the Emmons ball cap. My eyes and memory unit aren't what they used to be. Thanks!

Jerry is from England, a great player. I met him once at the St. Louis show. He and another player played together on Eastbound and Down. It was awesome..
I think is name is spelled Gerry.

Love the tone, my kind of playing.

Gerry Hogan has been an inspiration to me as a British guy. Great player and an even nicer person. Great ambassador for British steel.

Cool - plays a ZB and wears an Emmons hat. Great tone.

Gerry Hogan is not only a world class pedal steel player, but he is also a great guitarist. He and his wife Barbara are lovely people. Gerry and I were on the UK and European country music circuit back in the late 60's/early '70s. It was a great time to be a British country musician, as many USA country acts used to come and tour the UK on a regular basis.

great show ! Thats my longtime friend Barry Tashian ( big mustache) playing rhythm and singing harmony with Emmylou . Barry had a powerful band that toured with the Beatles in '66 , The Remains, but they never quite made the step from the Ed Sullivan show , touring with the Beatles etc to the national stage.

I believe Barry knew Emmylou from living in Boston for a bit. Post Remains, I played with Barry in Southern Ct for a good bit, then one day he was gone, he got a call to join Emmylou on the road somewhere. Next thing ya know he's on stage with Emmylou, Albert Lee, Merle Haggard etc...

I did play reunion show with Barry summer 2019 , we were able to hang out for a weekend. a good time for sure. He sure has a bunch of stories ! :D

Thx for posting the video !
