Beginner Playalongs

Post by Gerd Kaindlstorfer »

Hello Pedal Steel friends. Is there any page with playalongs for beginners?

Hi Gerd. As a new player, one thing that's helped me a lot for "playalongs" or backing tracks, is just to go to Youtube and search "(artist or song name) acoustic cover".

Eg: Ray Price acoustic cover, or Crazy Arms acoustic cover.
You'll get a ton of different versions in various keys to "play along" with.
This has really helped me a lot, and it keeps things random and fun also.

And to follow the YouTube statement, try the Karaoke versions. You can have a music backup without a singer. Lots of versions and many are great.

I like to use the iReal Pro app. It has a large catalog of classic songs and you can adjust style, instruments, tempo, and key. It also has a user forum with user generated song files. Lots of different genres. It's not the best sounding back-up band but it works great for jamming alone. Best of luck, Gerd!
