I’ve been playing lap steel for a little while and am looking to sell some gear and take the plunge to finally get my first pedal steel. The forum says a pro single neck model around $1500 is possible but I never see them in that price range. Wondering if anybody has one they’re looking to sell. Can pickup in driving distance of Chicago.

Might want to read that ad a little more closely.

Ben, check out www.justicesteelguitars.com and give Ron a call and see what he can do for you in that price range. I have a Justice guitar and it is wonderful.

I second that recommendation. This one is economical but built to professional standards. The changer is only 2 raise, 1 lower but that was good enough for Lloyd Green to record all his classic parts. I have one, by the way, and can vouch for that quality.

The way the ad read, it was not obvious that price applied to the MSA. If it does, that’s a smoking deal!

Might check this out 3 pedals and 3 Knees.

Thank you folks for the advice, going to look into these avenues. Saw some student model GFIs pop up on the web one 3x3 one 3x4 wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.

GFI are good guitars but if it were me, I would look closely at that BMI Barry posted. That's just me though, I don't care for MSA so take that for what it's worth.

I would too, that's a clean one there if your close enough to Muscle Shores to pick it up.

BMI is a well made instrument. The company is still in business so some support/parts can be gotten, I believe.

That's the one Barry posted. You need pictures of the front, the changer and the nylon tuners. That would help assess the guitar better. If all that checks out, it should be a nice guitar. Dan over at BMI is a helpful guy too.
