My 1999 CD "All Hat, No Cattle," had a bit of a world music vibe. "Highlife" is the opening tune and it was obviously influenced by the music of West Africa which at that time was called "Highlife Music." Interesting to us is that King Sunny Ade was spearheading a movement in Nigeria featuring pedal steel in a lot of their bands.

Nice feeling Joe. I listen to a lot of Africa music and have been tempted to compose in that direction for steel.
I also like Cape Verdean (check Os Tubaroes), Angolan (check Bonga), Panamanian accordion (check Osvaldo Ayala), and Ethiopian pop.

Hi Joe. Good to revisit some of the tunes from the Joe Goldmark collection. If you're taking requests, add Edward to the list. I always loved your version, as well as Quicksilver with Nicky Hopkins.
Being the musicologist that you are, have you read Peter Guralnick's Feel Like Going Home? Great interview with Charlie Rich.
I've been enjoying #15/16 Lost in the Ozone. Lots of good memories.

Thanks Charlie, Edward and Rocky for indulging me.
Chris, world music has had quite a renaissance in the last 20 years. When I was a kid, there were dry folk music anthologies from different countries, but they totally ignored the pop music. Nice to see/hear some of the fun stuff.
And Chuck my friend, Edward is also one of my favorites, but I'm trying to limit how many I post! I haven't read that Guralnick book, but he's one of my favorite music authors along with David Ritz. I love his Elvis books, the Sam Cooke book and the Sam Phillips book. You stay safe also. I've now gotten my shots, but still trying to be careful.
