Hello , is anyone using the Ernie Ball MVP? Is this a true active pedal? How do you like it?

Thanks in advance.

It has the jacks in front. We need volume pedals with the jacks on the side.

Ernie Ball does make a pot pedal with the jacks on the side, more suited for steel playing. Very Happy

I may be mistaken about this, but I am under the impression that Ernie Ball no longer makes them with the jacks on the side.

I used one of these on all my recordings. I still have it.

Check the pot on the Ernie Ball pedal. A friend got one, and the Pot is 250 and it sounds terrible.

Chuck, I'll take an un-informed stab at this. I have not used MVP but looking at the specs on line looks like it is a truly active pedal, so pot K-Ohm value (unspecified) is not as critical as it would be for a passive model. I do have a VP Jr. which I used a lot with a matchbox between the PSG and I liked it fine. Had to use right angle plugs to get the VP right up to the PSG pedal bar, but that was not a problem for me. I did (and still) hate changing the strings on this pedal. A real PITA. It's just a back-up now as I have since got a couple of Hiltons. It looks like the MVP has the same string/spring arrangement.

I have a couple of the jr pedals and like Bob said, with a matchbox they work fine. I mastered the string change technique and used angled plugs on the front Jack's. I considered drilling and changing to side Jack's but since have used Goodrich pedals, so it's become a spare. Never used the MVP. I prefer the Goodrich.
