Here's the official download link for Audacity V3.0: https://www.fosshub.com/Audacity.html

Audacity® is a free, open source (cross-platform) digital audio editor, recorder, and mixer. It is a sophisticated software application that comes with an extensive list of features.

Thanks Jim.
I'm thinking of jumping down that rabbit hole of home recording and Audacity has been recomended by several sources.

I've been heavily encouraged to start recording and listening to my playing and am looking for a recording tool. How does this compare to Garage Band (the only recording platform I've ever used before?)

Thanks.

No comparison. GarageBand is a Digital Audio Workstation, or DAW, while Audacity is more comparable to an audio file editor.

The fact is Audacity does not have the rich feature set and accessories as GarageBand. If you have GarageBand I'd advise to use it.

However, if you find GarageBand confusing then you may prefer the simplicity Audacity offers.

The two most unsettling restrictions I find with Audacity are: 1) you can't hear changes you make in real time as you make them. 2) It doesn't work with MIDI so you can't use virtual instruments. GarageBand does not have either limitation.
