Anybody ever see one of these and what kind of money
its worth? guitar sounds great.Don't know the kind
of pickups are on it.Has 3 legs

Looks like an HG-96C, mid-late '60s.

Not uncommon. Very cool Japanese made lap steels. Typical prices these days $500 to $800, depending on condition and the local market demand. Reverb prices tend to be on the high end local on the low end.

In my experience, the console 8-string Guyatones sound better than their lap steels.

I sold one two years ago for $190.00. It had what looked like home-made leg sockets though. I had to correct a problem with the bridge plate to get a good sound out of it.

Mark Helm sold one earlier this year for $399 (I think), which sounds about right for a nice one.

I bought that one from Mark.Its an older model.It plays well as best as I can tell,its my first lap steel.The pickups were kind of weak which is to be expected with any Jap guitar of that vintage,magnets get weak.It was a very fair price,a big plus was having the legs.The one you show has the legs and is newer, I would think $500 or more would be fair.

Carl,
Have a look at my post at the bottom of the last page (11) of the thread that Doug linked above. I'd be very curious if your guitar has the same easily remedied design flaw that mine had. Correcting it made a huge difference in the tone and sustain of the guitar I sold.

Bill. mine doesnt have the gap between the plates but the 1st string is weaker sounding than the rest.I replaced the pickups with a pair of single coils from a Gibson ES320 that I had rewound and did away with the switches,I have them wired as parallel humbuckers and the 1st string is still thinner, weaker sounding than the rest.Not a real concern,I'm so new at playing that I rarely play it plugged in yet, no need to amplify the sound of a cat in heat,lol.
