I was changing strings on my '48 Gibson Console Grande, and decided to take the tuner pans out and lubricate them. I knew that a couple of the tuners had been replaced, and now that I've had a good look, I'm thinking about replacing all of them.
As you can see from the picture, two of the tuners on this pan have been replaced. The worm gear support on the Grover Sta-tite is way too big, and the body has been slightly enlarged so that it would fit. I've seen other people saying that the Grovers are a good replacement, but they look a little too big to me. Maybe a different model?
So I'm looking for recommendation from you fellow CG owners out there that have replaced the tuners. What did you use?
Thanks!

I restored a Gibson Console Grande and replaced all the tuning machines with Grover Sta-Tite H98n with the round tuning button. These work but need a little modification. You must elongate one of the screw holes on each of the machines to match the original screw holes in the old mounting block. You may also have to file a bit off tuning plate. All easily done and worth the effort. Again the part number is H98N NOT V98N The H is for "horizontal". Meant for slotted headstock guitars. The shaft on the tuning machine is long and not tapered. This is what you need. https://reverb.com/item/18238554-genuine-grover-sta-tite-3x3-nickel-horizontal-round-button
