From Wayne Douglas to Wayne Douglas

No particular point or question to this, just found a song some may enjoy hearing. If the mods feel it's better in the "music" section that's fine with me. Altho I will throw out the standard "Who's the steel player? question on it.

I was listening to Doug Sahm's "Cowboy Peyton Place" with Tommy Detamore's outstanding playing ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9H9ZqurXss ). The album is "The Return of Wayne Douglas", a take on Sahm's first and middle name. And then I stumbled across another "Wayne Douglas" who turns out to be a Canadian singer. And HIS song has steel front and center as well. No other connection but a decent song too. It was recorded in Nashville I believe so here you go, and who's playing on this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldgaY0yJmQo

That's a great song, Don. Aside from the good steel playing I dig the background singers.

A Great CD but I think all of Doug's are. I have had mine for years an just about wore it out. Tommy Detamore's steel picking is just out of this world. Plus he is a very nice guy, J.R.

Killer steel played by TD. Doug wrote some good tunes. “Oh no, not another one”
That’s some great, timeless , stuff.

Anyone know when that album was released ? I bout wore mine out, back in the day when I played CDs in my car when traveling.

Per Wikipedia, it was released in 2000, a year after his death.

When I was at the Hank Thompson School of Country Music back in 1975, 1976, there was a young man there from North Dakota by the Name of Wayne Kabanuck. His Middle name was Douglas and he talked about using Wayne Douglas for a stage name as it was more "country friendly." He put together a band, did some recording and touring after he finished school but never hit the big time. He has some songs on Youtube.
