I run BIAB 2020 64 bit on an Acer Aspire laptop and have no problems using Styles.
I also run BIAB 2020 32 bit on an ASUS eee Notebook computer for portability.
I made a track for Django’s Manoir de Mes Reves on the Acer and used _JBALPFR.STY.
When I try to play this on the Notebook the sound is all distorted. I changed the style on the Notebook to J!~HOAGY.STY and it played fine.
Is this due to differences in the 64 bit application and the 32 bit application, or just that the notebook computer sound card is not so good?
Any assistance will be gratefully accepted.
Keith.

There is little difference between 2020 32 & 64 bit Band-in-a-Box. As I remember, the main difference is PG Music provides different VSTi/DXi midi synth modules. The Coyote WT soft synth is 32 bit and Synthfont64 soft synth is 64 bit.

I see _JBALPFR.STY has RealTracks and RealDrums so midi soft synth doesn't enter into the picture. However, I'm not familiar with J!~HOAGY.STY so I'm not sure if that style is all RealDrums and RealTracks with no misi.

Is this the first time you've tried playback of a song file in both computers or is this your first attempt?

My present thought is what you're hearing is a difference in the audio playback system of each computer. I have Band-in-a-Box on both a Dell laptop and Dell desktop computer. There is a vast difference in the maximum audio level output of the two computers.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply.
I have used both computers for a while, but this file doesn’t “behave itself!
Because it’s a Django tune the chords are quite complex, but I’m beginning to think that the sound card on the Notebook just isn’t man enough.
Regards,
Keith.
