My New ‘37 Rickenbacher B7

Howdy folks! Just acquired this really cool B7 from a fellow forum member out in Nashville. I’m going to have my friend Rusty Blake dial it in for me this week, and it should be good to go! There’s a few mis-matched parts, and it looks to have played a bunch. The pickup has been rewound and sounds strong. It also came with a few snapshots of Jerry Byrd that had been found with the guitar in the case, which is original but pretty shot. I’m looking to replace it with something more solid for gigs, and was curious if anyone had any suggestions? I wouldn’t mind rescuing an older orphaned case, but am unsure which of the older cases I’m seeing on Reverb, etc, will fit it. Thanks!

Very cool. I'd love to get an old Rick one of these days.

Really cool! The first thing I thought was "Jerry Byrd model"--- same make and 7 strings. Then you have those pics. Have fun with it!

I’ve got one very similar, except no tone control. I use a high quality tenor ukulele soft case and it fits perfectly. Congrats on the nice axe!

Baritone ukulele gig bags work pretty well on laps that shape. You can get them cheap or not so cheap.

You may want to keep that lovely old guitar in a hard case. The early Bakelite neck is fragile. They can break easily. I would not use a gig bar for this instrument. Later model Bakelites from Rickenbacher had steel reinforced necks but not these early models.

I have a similar B7. I had Hugh Briley make a case for it. I love how it turned out.

Hey Tom - that case looks great! Do you happen to know how to get in touch with him to talk about having one built?
