Removing decal from pedal bar

I was cleaning my emmons with polish and ran it across the decal on the pedal bar and removed the emmons ink. The backing was left intact and I don't know the best way to get it off. I don't think it will just peel off and I can't try to scrape it of in fear of scratching the pedal bar. I thought about using a heat gun to loosen the glue on the decal. Does anyone know the best way to get it off. I bought a new decal from Jerry Roller about 2 weeks before he died. thanks Winston May

I used a heat gun to remove the decal and Goo Gone to remove the remaining gum, then polished it on my polishing machine.

I second the heat and Goo Gone, you can also buy plastic razor blades which will help you keep from scratching if needed.

After heating it up and pealing it off, you can try wiping off the sticky stuff with WD-40. I do that frequently on various surfaces with no problem.

They make a rubber eraser you can install on a drill. You will still have to remove the residue, some denatured alcohol should take care of the rest.

heat gun to remove the decal and Goo Gone to remove the remaining gum...WD40 will leave a residue.

Do not use WD40 anywhere on a PSG...JMHO!!!!

Usually lacquer thinner will lift most decals.

Actually a heat gun will do a great job of softening the adhesive and the decal can be peeled right off. for the adhesive. WD40 works great and it's something most people have on the shelf.

Oops, I meant to say WD40 works great for removing the adhesive.

Liberally soak a small sheet of paper towel with Goo Gone and place over decal or sticker, let remain there for 30 to 45 minutes then, wipe off residue.
