Six of one and a half-dozen of the other! 20+ years of I guess just dumb luck that I’ve only had one damaged item and no lost items...knock on real wood! The one damaged item wasn’t necessarily FedEx’s fault...the shipper did a shoddy job of packing the steel-related item...Anyway, here’s wishing you the best outcome Johnny...the shipping/mailing system seems to be out of sync since a March for obvious reasons...Carl

There's "Horror stories" about all the shippers. They are equally good or bad.

Just asking for communication from these Fedex clowns!
What would happen if I would not communicate with a customer after a sale?

I've lost some knee lever componants and rods before which were never found, but how do you loose a pedal steel in a case at 80lbs....Praying for you Johnie my buddy!!!

It has nothing to do with the shipping companies. Have you not seen the horrible weather/fires/storms/fires and fires????
Sometimes it is impossible to travel PERIOD!!!

Don't give up on it just yet Johnie. I had a steel go missing years ago that was supposedly shipped to me from a FedEx facility in NC. Several in-person visits to that office over 10 days from the guy that shipped it to me finally located it right there at the warehouse - it never even left.

I guess it’s like looking for a needle in a Haystack !

Yeah, the needle that has a great big homemade wooden box around it that’s very heavy and probably has “pedal steel guitar“ written on the side. I can’t believe they would lose something that size. That being said I find FedEx to be the better of the companies for shipping.

Try answering their voice menu with the word “ representative†. Keep repeating it if you need to.
I’ve been screwed by them all, best of luck.

UPS damaged several guitars I received or shipped out in the last couple months, it appears that their prices are going way up , and quality of their service is getting worse and worse... I even thought about stopping shipping guitars out all together ...

The very real potential for damage is main reason I required pick up when I sold my Franklin.
As a side note on the Franklin it was sold to a person in Nashville and ultimately purchased by a person that lives 35 miles south of me.

I don't know if it's much better but the US Postal Service will handle packages up to 75 lbs.

I'm a FedEx guy...but mostly because they are much easier to deal with on the delivery end. They'll ship to a fedex store for you to pick up if you aren't around during the drop off time. Like at work.

.
I had Chris Fouke build a guitar for me about 3 months ago.
We live 600 miles apart. It was to be delivered by USPS.
It took 8 days to travel that 600 miles using 2 day shipping.
The response I got was that the service hubs are vastly undermanned and are in a state of perpetual chaos.
I was told that they no longer expedite any item no matter how it is marked
unless overnight shipping has been paid for. Everything else is treated equally.
I imagine that would apply to any shipping company these days.

It finally arrived in perfect condition, but.......whew.....

Fedex not a place you would want too start a career at.
Just a place to work until something better comes along especially for the delivery drivers who works for a company that’s leases a fleet of trucks too Fedex.
