Where to put a stolen gear alert?

A friend in New Orleans just sent me an alert about a stolen custom built koa Scheerhorn reso with the name "Stan" inlaid on the fretboard. Also recently got a report from another friend here about a stolen 1931 National Duolian.

Where can I post info? Thx

I assume you're asking where you can put stolen instrument info on this forum, but I'd check out a couple other options. If they're on social media like Facebook or Instagram, that is a good place. Post the info with a request for people to share it on their page and share it on the page of musical communities in their area. You can also check out the NextDoor social media page, which is like Craigslist, but for community-based activities/events/announcements. I know people who have recovered stolen vehicles and instruments by using all those pages here in Portland. Including photos of the item(s) with the post can be very helpful.

There's no specific section for stolen item alerts but the moderators tend to leave them wherever you feel is the best exposure. Most people put them in the Steel Players section or the For Sale: Steel Guitars section just as you have. Main thing is to have "Stolen" and what the item is in the title. And yes, pictures help a lot.

That's terrible to hear about. Make sure your friends have the serial numbers listed in the NCIC database

Since they're resos you could post to Banjo hangout and mandolin cafe, they have pretty many people that are reso-aware.
