Steel Seat Question/recommendations

Hello all,

I have used Steeler's Choice seats for the past 24 years and they have always held up VERY well to the use and abuse that I put them through. Great product and great company.

This being so, the past few years I have been having really bad pain in my tail bone when I sit on these seats for more than an hour or so. It is not unusual for the bands that I play in to play 2 hour sets, and sometimes longer.... At the end of the set I can hardly stand up at times....

All this being said, I am looking for a new seat that may be a little more comfortable.... Maybe a little more padding, or a touch softer? Do you all have any recommendations on a seat manufacturer that may be a better fit?

Thanks!

Jeremy

I have a Steeler's Choice and a Steel Seat Lite. The cushioning is entirely different. The Steel Seat is much firmer, which makes merit higher. This turned out to be a plus. I also had a Walker style composite cushion seat. I'm sore after 90 minutes on any of them, butvi would suggest trying as many as you can!

I think I saw a picture of a seat owned by Johnny Cox that has a tailbone relief cut out of the cushion. I suspect it would be for a similar reason. It actually appeared to be professionally done...Hope this helps

If you have someone who could do the upholstery work for you.
Check any health supply that rents or sells wheel chairs. They have special cushions with form fitting and tailbone relief molded into the padding.
All would be needed, Is trim the pad to fit seat top and cover it.
Good Luck on this project and Happy Steelin.

Bobby,
Good advise.
I still have an old Sho~Bud seat from years ago.
I sat rather low on it so had it redone with more padding and instead of the Naugahyde covering I replaced it with a cloth cover. Much more pleasant to sit on. :D
