strings?
I am new to steel guitar. I inherited a 1973 MSA Classic 12 string guitar with 8 pedals and 4 knee levers. I have not decided if I am going to take it up myself or just try to sell it. My dad played it some. I have to sets of strings. One I just bought they are S.I.T. strings. Dad also had a set of Jaguar strings that I believe are about 15 years old. These strings are in a plastic bag that has been opened but each string is in it’s own paper envelope unopened. My question is would these old strings still be good? Between these two brands is one better than the other? Even though the guitar is a 12 string, he must have had it set up for ten strings. The set he left with the guitar is 10 strings athe set on the guitar is 10 strings on both necks. Thanks for your help everybody.

You should take up the pedal steel. It’s worth the effort and you don’t even have to buy one! The old strings should be okay as long as there’s no rust spots. They can last many years if stored properly. Just take a couple out and look at them. I’m not sure if Jaguar strings are better than SIT but I’ve used SIT 12 string sets and they are fine. Good luck!
