Volume knob on lap steel static when touched

My Supro lap steel metal volume know makes some static when it it touched or turned. Should I pull the knob and spray some anti-static spray?

It’s most likely just a dirty pot. Get some Deoxit and give it a spray. After you spray it rotate it a couple of dozen times and that should fix.
