Changer stuck help.

Post by Roy Dick »

On my sd10 fessenden I changed strings today. As always iput a little tri flo and work the pedals. Put ne strings and the changer that raises the 5th string is stuck and won't return. Turned it upside down and tried to push it from the bottom and it is solid. Any ideas or someone close to northeastern ok I could get in touch with?

Roy, Im thinking the finger has gone over center by pressing pedals without the strings on it. Try removing the return spring for that finger and pushing it back with a thin screwdriver after you loosen the string. I had a similar incident with a BMI that was my fault for using the pedals without the strings on. Otherwise you may need someone else to chime in.

Larry, thank you so much. Was simple after following your advise. I was about ready to get psychiatric help over my steel not working.

Roy, you're welcome. Now we both know not to press pedals without strings attached. It had me stumped the 1st time until I examined the design and seen the light. Glad you got it going. Take care.

This is really good to know. It never occurred to me that pushing an "unloaded" pedal or lever could cause a problem ;-)
