I'm looking at replacing the pickup in my Excel and want to hear some ideas. Currently it has a Telonics rail humbucker (Type 183 I think). It is a good sound, but just a little too mellow for me, and I really like mellow. If I just played C6 stuff it would be perfect for me. So, what would y'all recommend for good string separation, clarity, sustain, and low noise for someone who really likes Sneaky Pete's and Eric Heywood's tones? Thanks!

Jerry Sentell has been building pickups for years. He will build whatever you want. The two Gibson lap steels in this post (scroll down a ways) are both equipped with custom pickups from Sentell.
