Sorry I can't post a link here (can someone else please oblige?) but I watched a clip on Facebook earlier in which Doug plays Brian Wilson's 'Surf's Up'.
Anyone even slightly familiar with the song will appreciate its complexities and Doug seems to have nailed every chromatic nuance of this arcane work.
I'm still in a state of shock. Great playing, Mr Livingston!

| I've always wanted to hear this done on steel, and certainly never felt like I had what it takes to try it myself. Great job, Doug! I think my favorite part was the bass run down to the "Child Is the Father of Man" section. |

| I think the song that introduced me to Doug's playing is "Right Time Of The Night" by Jennifer Warnes. Doug played steel on that record and his playing and the song itself are awesome! |

He's been an inspiration to me from the first note I ever heard from him. His Ave Maria [psg] and Bohemian Rhapsody[on lapsteel] are a must listen!

Doug used to do gigs with a girl singer and just bass and drums. No guitar or keyboards. He played every fill and took every ride all night.
Every time he did one of these, there were always a few steel players (including me,) in the audience come to worship at the feet of the master.
