I recently found an old letter that I had received from Jerry Blanton in October of 1970. It was in response to an earlier letter that I had written to him, asking for information and a brochure on his Blanton PSGs. In 1970 A Blanton S-10 PSG w/ a 3X5 set up would run about $800. and a D-10 w/ a 8X5 would have cost about $1,250.

I believe a D-10 Sho-Bud or Emmons guitar would have cost a bit under $1,500. at that time.

I bought a S-10 Blanton from Blackie Taylor's Music in SoCal around 1971 which had 4 floor pedals and no knee levers. As I remember, it cost about $800 for that one too. It was a nice guitar but I wanted a low E string so Blackie and I converted it to a S-11 and added two knee levers. One of 'em lowered the E's to D# and the other lowered the 2nd string to D and the 9th string to C#. I eventually traded it for a 1958 Volkswagen. What was strange about my blanton was how the pedal changes were tuned. I remember I had to go under the guitar and there was a round thing right on the bellcranks that had to be turned, all the pedal tuning was done under the guitar. There were no holes in the endplate at all which acutually made it look pretty nice......JH in va.
