I am trying to end up with an LDG in a "blue darlin" finish. I have a chance to buy one that has formica on it. What's the chances of stripping the formica and refinishing the would in blue ? What would it possibly do to the tone compared to an original wood LDG ? Any comments appreciated . Thanks- Bill Myrick.

Bill, I dont believe that Sho Bud ever made any formica guitars except a couple proto types and they wern't LDG's as far as I know. You better check up on what the seller is telling you. Ricky could tell you for sure. Martin.

I only know of one formica Bud, the one they built for Hal. Bobby Reed had it, don't know if he still does.

Come to think about it, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about ; they said it was a mica finish. I just assumed the formica thing, could be wrong. They said it had a green mica finish and was an LDG.

Bill it would be hard to cover a Bud with mica as the front roll would be imposibale to do.
See if you can get them to send you some digital pic's of it, that will tell the story right there.

Bill,
I would check out the seller a little bit closer ...They may not know what they are talking about ...Either it's NOT a mica steel, or it's not a ShoBud ...One or the other, or maybe BOTH !!

Basil - my Fender Dual 10 is mahogany wood lacquer finish and they also came in black. The Student 10 ("Maverick") version was in vinyl.
BTW Did anyone see my topic about these Fenders (23 December with zero posts so far) if anyone has more information please please post!
