Not steel, but my younger brothers band

Post by Andy DePaule »

Not steel, but my younger brothers band recording with Wee Willie Walker just before he died. My brother Anthony is the guitar player on the video and he was found to have Hairy Cell Lukimia in January. It's very rare to the point I had to look it up. He has been doing well now and the chemo is helpful to get it under control.
His band backs up a lot of great R&B and Soul players from the San Francisco bay area.

This from the video:
On November 16, 2019 only three days before Willie passed we finished recording our new CD. Although the release date for the entire recording is yet to be determined, we decided this song should be released now, so here it is! The first time Willie heard The Sons Of The Soul Revivers was at the Fountain Blues Festival, San Jose CA, 2018. Upon hearing the group, his eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning! Their style of quartet gospel singing took Willie back to his youth when he sang with the Redemption Harmonizers. It seemed only fitting that The Sons would join us for a song on the new recording, an idea which Willie was very enthusiastic about.

Hope you all enjoy this as I did. :D  :D

The voice indeed...

Post by Andy DePaule »

The voice indeed... In fact all the singers and musicians did real well.
If you just youtube my brothers name there are tons of videos with lots of great singers.
Last night after I posted that I found myself going back through a lot of videos of his various bands and members over the years. Some in the bay area and quite a lot from live shows in Italy. The Italian shows are very good.

I specially liked these two. The first just filmed by someone with a phone.

Thanks John & Tim,
Thought I'd share that because I am proud of my brother. His playing as well as the people he has worked with over the years.
Best wishes,
