I have been a BIG FAN of Jimmy Houston all of my life, and I especially love his theme song by Eddie Reasoner called "Chunkin' and Windin'"; who played pedal steel on that studio track?

Hey Tay:
I've been a fan of Jimmy Houston for many years myself. No surprise I guess as I'm an avid, bass-fisherman.
I've never seen the list of musicians that played on the theme song recording. I've always thought it to be Hal Rugg. To my ears, the playing and the tone, it's Hal without a doubt. I've always been a Hal Rugg fan too.
As a side note, Hal also enjoyed bass-fishing as did John Hughey. There are some other bass-fisherman here on the forum as well.
