Anyone got a chord sheet for Lupus # 1 by Tom Morrell?

Don't remember what key Morrell played, but the tune is the old Mills Brothers tune OPUS 1 in . Tommy Dorsey also had a rendition in G. You can probably find it on one of the internet chords and lyrics sites and maybe transpose to the key if it's not right....

Or someone here may just be able to do it for you in Tom's recorded key. Great song, great players with Morrell and the TWTH too.

Found it on you tube. He's playing in G, bridge goes to Bb, then C#, then D and back to G for Verses....maybe someone can write out a chart for you.

Jerry you are a hero. The bridge was the part I was after. I could just about hear changes in the background but all other instruments doing a run down over the top which to my ear was a bit confusing. The rest is no problem.

Once again thanks. Now to programme the chords in band in a box and get to work.

I am really glad you told me the original title. I had been searching for the title on Toms version as he was shown as composer. I have a number of jazz books here and of course it did not show up. Now I have found it under the original title in my books and it is heaven. The bridge shows chords every two beats so gonna have fun with this.

Glad I could help Mick. In the bridge, Tom adds some other changes out of the Bb, I don't recall all of them presently.

I learned to play this tune years ago being inspired by a local guitar player and later Buddy Emmons recording of the tune. Tom Morrell was, if not a genius, certainly a master of steel guitar. I have most of his recordings with the Top Hands. Some, like the album that has Lupus 1, are on cassette and I can't play them due to my player gone south, but I listen to all the CD's regularly.

Interestingly, on that album, they had fun giving the song titles, many of them standards such as Moo[d] Indigo a little twist in Dinosaur style. Just terrific stuff.

Jerry - I don't know if you are aware but you can buy a small tape player very cheaply that will plug in to your computer and convert to MP3. Costs between 10-20 US dollars.

Thanks Mick. I really need to do that as I have a large library of music on cassette that I need to save. Actually, I need on that works on both cassette and vinyl disc as I have a lot of that too. I'll investigate.

This is how Tom played it. Tommy Dorsey did it in 1943.
