It's puzzling why many fine artists like these two on the small labels didn't make it big. I never would have known about them if it wasn't for youtube and the posters playlists. One of the best for traditional country music 60's era stuff like this is Armadillo Killer. Check it out.

That is Lloyd Green on "I've had it" and that was his Sho~bud he got right after his "Lightening Bolt" Fingertip. It is the "By Baldwin" crossover Sho~bud; they eventually took off the bottom neck off; which gave the idea of the LDG.....it sounds WONDERFUL>...wow.

We cut that at Mercury Records where we cut all the Faron Young records. Tommy Allsup really turned me up on those Metromedia Records (I was his session leader).
That steel was simply the best playing and best sounding steel Iâ€™ve ever sat behind! God, I wish I had not given it back to Shot because I know they reinstalled the C6th neck and sold it as a D-10.
But when we cut that record with Jimmy it was still a double. I hadnâ€™t yet got the idea for single-D.

I remember going to see Jimmie Peters in Birmingham. He was very talented and had a great band. Nice person and I enjoyed talking to him. I may be wrong, but I seem to remember he moved to Texas and may have been killed in a wreck going to a gig. Does anyone know if that is what happened ?

Gary,I have been following Armadillo Killer for years.When I go to Youtube,he's the first thing I go to to see if has put anything up that day.I've heard so many great songs from people I've never heard of before.

Many of these have Emmons,Mooney,and Lloyd Green playing on them,no doubt.

AK must have been a dj before,having access to thousands of records that he shares with us.

Thank you Ricky. I remember now who I was thinking about. I played at Banks Lounge with him and I can tell you he started each night with the theme song from the Dukes of Hazard. However, at 85 years old, his name has left my mind.

Floyd,you're the only person I've ever heard mention"Banks Lounge"!I saw Julian Tharpe playing there in'77,but I never heard anybody else say they'd been there,or even heard of it...
