I was doing my monthly Internet search for pedal steel stuff, after a lovely discussion with Fran, and came across this. Let's hope it stays where it is.

Thats the '07 sho-bud that will be comming out in summer, It is designed to give you that wood tone that one loves to hear, this is alot more sturdy as you will note it wieghs in at a mild 110lbs. You won't have tuning problems with this guitar as they are disposable, once out of tune toss it into the fire and order a new one! |

If you had two, they could double in the shop as sawhorses..... |

Tha's a Bob Villa S-10 (the "Craftsman" model, I believe). Just the ticket for the players wanting for an "all-wood" guitar with nice, wide, string spacing! |

I betcha Big E could still do a pretty fine rendition of "Touch My Heart" on that thing...
This is the prototype for a new product at Home Depot. It was inspired by an episode of the "Red Green Show". \
Lowe's is gonna have a similar product, except theirs will be shipped with two cans of black spray paint.[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 12 November 2006 at 10:58 AM.] |

Curt I can remember when folks said the same thing about the Fender Stringmaster I had with the two holes drilled thru the tuner pan with two wire clothes hangars bent to pull the B and G# strings. Also the two gas pedals from 1940 Ford Coupes on the floor drew a lot of unwanted attention also. Darn hard to set the pulls with "CALIBRATED BLOCKS OF WOOD" too.

Possibly, someone needs to drop it in a cabinet and leave it there. I wonder how it sounds. I found this on a british steel site. Maybe the owner has some clips of its sound.

Lets not forget, Mooney did good with pedals on a homemade steel. Was it black? |

Before you look ascance at this, try building a pedal steel yourself. It's not that easy. For 30 years I couldn't afford a pedal steel and tried all sorts of methods of putting them on, but without a machine shop it's a waste of time. What you have here is someone's attempt to build a pedal steel. Without listening to it we can't come to the conclusion that he failed. Maybe it's the greatest pedal steel that ever was built.................. |

.....and even if it's not that hot,it seems someone's tried real hard to get somewhere without the blessings(such as money) that most of us here seem to have.
Perhaps the disdain is a little uncharitable and not worthy of this forum.

Alan and Michael, I'm right with you. Sure, one isn't going to pick up any chicks with it probably, but beyond that you can't judge much of anything about it, especially from that particular photo. |
