I was lubing up my guitar the other day and turned the spacers between the pedals to wipe off some old grease and dust buildup.

Now it seems there's a bit of play (left to right wiggle) in the pedals, most noticeable on the A and B pedal. I don't recall if there was any play before i spun the spacers or if they were very snug.

Just wondering what i should be aiming for regarding play / snugness of the pedals to limit unnecessary wear while allowing for smooth pedal action?

Also, what type of washers are used for these spacers, in case i have to replace them?

Yes your gap between pedals came when snugging up the end brackets with allen wrench. Yes you want the pedals with that plastic washer; that will keep the metal grind down. Yes you want pedals to not have gap/play/movement between them but yet NO friction to move sluggish. So take the pedal rods off and just flip one at a time pedal and it should flip up and down loosely but without gap movement between...hard to get it perfect...so I always do a little tap of the end bracket so no gap but still floppy movement.
if you ever want anything for you steel parts like the washers; always check with Michael Yahl at www.psgparts.com

I had too much gap between the pedals on my ShoBud. I was able to match the original black washer with a nylon washer at ACE Hardware for pennies. Best wishes. Rb

Thanks guys. Unfortunately we’re stuck only going out for essentials at the moment. If I get a size, I can order some. But I’ll probably just wait until the restrictions are relaxed.
I’ll put up a note in the wanted section.

The main thing I wanted to check on is how much play do we want, and I think Ricky answered that one.
