I would like to know if any of you guys that are seasoned Marlen Players out there, just what do the numbers on my ser # plate mean, if any meaning at all.

this is off an ST-10 model the numbers are
535 791.
This guitar came to me just about 'unplayable', that all changed now, its up & running with 3pedals & 4 knee levers my extened tuning.

Anyone with any info on the Marlen I would appreciate it. & thanks in advance.

Ernie, Sorry no expert, but mine is marked on the cross rod assy, "Serial 1473891". An S10 3/4, it was marked with one of those electric echers or looks like it. I'm not sure of what the numbers might mean. It has an all pull, 3 raise 2 lower changer, I got the steel used in about 1980 or 81 and would like to find some parts to install a few more changes. Ernie, if I remember Leonard's numbering scheme correctly, that serial number denotes the year of manufacture was 1975, and it was the actually 53rd guitar he built that year. For his "average" annual build quantities, that would put it probably put it sometime in the 3rd quarter that the guitar was completed. |

Yes Donny is correct. Leonard's serial number read backwards; reads the year then month then day.

I knew I could get an answer on the forum, as you can see from the pictures, the ser # has to have been put on there with one of those little virbrating pencils. Thanks
Donny, I was just curious about that. I changed this guitar [pull/release] into a system more like the GFI pull/release system, works real nice, I added 3 knee levers and my low bass tuning, the guitar not only looks good, but it plays real nice. I guess I just like old steels!!
Thanks for you help guys.
