Those 12th century Emmons guitars are known to be some of the best.

Sorry, couldn't resist. I actually am curious about the 'A' myself..

Hi Don,
Is that an invoice number guitar? Which changed design does this guitar use?

It seems this is a cut-tail, so not an invoice number.

Could “AD” refer to “artist demo” aka endorsement guitar?

Emmons Serial Number

I don't have any idea what the A stands for, but according to my records this S-10 was probably made in '69 or '70. What does the rear apron look like? If it's a cutback (relived lower edge) it was probably a '69 and if it's a fatback (straight across the lower edge) it's a '70.
Best regards,
Lynn Stafford
