Maybe b0b can answer this question?
Do we have any members on the Forum from India?
Whenever I go on Face Book there are always several steelers from India that are pictured.
The steel guitar must still be popular in India.

I've been meaning to post this question, so maybe here is the place to do so.
Can anyone make a custom fretboard sticker that would show both the 12TET western fret markers and also the 22 (unequal) divisions of the Indian octave.
If you're unfamiliar with the math behind the Indian octave division, this video is great (and cued to the math).

Of course, you can't modulate as you can with in 12TET, but a fretboard would be a great tool for Western ears to become familiar with Indian tonality.

There is a musical instrument company in India called GIVSON (with a V) that makes single and double neck console steels.

Some of the Indian steel guitarists really want a pedal steel guitar. They would probably want a 6 string with 2 pedals and 2 knee levers. I've mentioned this to both Jerry Fessenden and Jimmy Hudson.
Some builder should license a changer design to Givson and have them make pedal steel guitars for this market.

That logo sure resembles Gibson.
There are some players in India that do have pedal steels from what I can see.
