Anybody here read the Wall Street Journal?

The weekend WSJ has an article in the Off Duty section written by a lady trying to deal with her husbands ever growing guitar collection. She walks into his garage and he is sitting down playing something and she asks if he got another guitar and learns its called a pedal steel guitar and he borrowed it from a friend. She goes through the article and comes up with a suitable resolution but ends it with "that pedal steel thing has to go"!!!
We just don't get any respect anywhere do we??

For sure. Of all the guitars crowding their home why did she pick the pedal steel as the one that "has to go"

Her husband may start asking her to iron his clothes on it.

Yeah really.. Probably even worse than a violin in the hands of a hack artist.. At least the fiddle doesn't have 300 watts of clean power behind it, when its being tortured with ham like mitts....
Trumpet?, Sax?? ,worse maybe??.
Not sure really, but yeah a badly played pedal steel is a diabolical torture device... bob

She could have let him keep the pedal steel but sell all his amps

Hopefully he didn't pay any attention. Otherwise, he needs some counseling on how to deal with this type of situation.
PS - the worst beginning pedal steel player is much easier to hack than the best beginning violin player. Oh, the pain - it's like fingernails on a chalkboard.

Nope. Nothing beats a badly played violin (not counting toy trumpets).

It's great to be a collector (hoarder?). People come around and you can say "Let me show you this". Then it's blah blah blah, I got that one there, and that one here, etc. etc. and you know what? It's all "stuff". Just stuff. I'm not impressed by "stuff" anymore.
Play something! Do something! Show
me how to do something! If I wanna look at "stuff", I can go to a store.
Simple fix

Ole bought Lena a steel guitar.
A while later Sven asked Ole how Lena was coming along with the guitar.
Ole said: "I traded it for a saxophone".
Sven said: "Why did you do that?"
Ole replied: "She can't sing while she's playing the sax".

I give the writer of the article credit for one thing, at least she called the instrument by it's correct name---that's something!

My late father and late grandfather's favorite jokes. Thanks
for bringing back some good memories.

Don, a friend of mine is a banjo builder and he's still married to the same woman for at least 35 years.

Mark,
Being from Minnesota, you have to know a lot of Ole and Lena jokes.
When I go out and play at a senior citizen center, I usually play a number, tell a joke, play a number, tell a joke and so forth.
I don't know what they enjoy the most, the playing or the jokes!

The jokes, of course...you can’t play while you’re telling a joke

Joachim, I have nothing against deaf people, I'm sure she's a very nice woman!
(And as evidence that this is said in humor, I just discovered this song today, blew me away!

Safe to assume she plays the bagpipes?
