Here's a cool non-country/western album with tons of pedal steel. Most of the album is an pop record leaning towards R&B. I don't know who the steel player is on it, but they do a great job of fitting the steel into the music instead of the other way around.

One of my favorite albums of last year. Her self-titled record from 2017 was lovely as well.

Dang, her music struck me as an oddity when I first heard it, but now it's gotten stuck in my head. The steel guitar is so Hawaiian in parts! Is that what you'd call roots-style steel guitar?
