First of all. It is gorgeous, just like Bobbe said.It also has a sound I havn't heard before. Does not loose the steel sound ,but adds another demension. It tunes a little different.Takes awhile to catch on to that.About 6 seconds.
It sounds so good over the Steel King, I can't describe it.But.I turned on the Nashville 1000.I have never had a decent sound that pleased me on that amp.The Jackson guitar ,and the Peavey 1000,are also a match. No stiffness in the pedals.
I can see something else.I love my Mullen D-10.and my new Emmons D-10, but with this kind of sound ,I now have to order the D-10.
I also love the sound of the C-6th neck.
I am not knocking my Other guitars at all.
But the Jackson Guitar is a phenomenal
instrument. It is a steel guitar Plus.

The tour is over.
David Jackson Examined the black one.Said it was in perfect shape. So I said ,I'll take it.On the right hand side,it has my name on a little plate of metal.Big name inside the case.Like nothing I have ever seen before. When you open the case, you seen,Made for custom made for Bill Mayville.
When you play it, you some how feel the custom work.

Hi Bill,
does your guitar have the normal roller bridge or do you have the "Edge" ?
Can you tell how to tune it?
Inquiring minds want to know it all !!!

Nice to hear all's well that ends well, Bill and that it was worth the wait (you and I have some experience waiting for steels as I recall)
Enjoy the new horn and don't let the movers touch it on your way to Abilene!

Tuning the Jackson.Yes .It is the edge.
There is a allen screw up by the tuning heads. You tune open, with the tuning keys, anything tuned lower tunes with the allen wrench,(no pressure on those screws) and the raises on the right end, which is normal.I was nervous at first. The sound is so great ,I was wanting a D-10 like my others, the second I heard it.But if I can't tune it(I was thinking).6 seconds later I was over the fright about tuning.
I thought some funny things about this guitar at first.David Jackson knew my Tuning. Most of the strings were fine tuned, plul or minus.Ready to go.It must have been very solid in the case.On the case.I noticed it has springs or a device in the handle which makes the handle lay down when in use.Of course seeing your name, and custom made for you is a treat at may age anyway.
For you that Want to see and play one before you by,my house is open.I'll be here a few more weeks, then you'll have to see at it at the Abilene House Of Pedal Steel.
A place for Beginners or players that just are not catching on.
