There was a different thread about Miller customs. I just finished my single neck 10 string and I thought I would post a few pictures for people interested in Millers.

I think I set my camera to the not so clear setting so the pictures don't look so great but here they are.

The first one is an idea of how it looked before I started. It sat in the sun for years, baked the finish and turned it yellow.

I removed everything. Stripped off the black paint off the Metal parts and polished them. I took off the finish and then followed the directions of my friend Johnny Dilks on how to refinish the guitar. There is no stain on there. It was colored with Lye and then varnished.

If that doesn't work or to see a few more go to: http://pictures.aol.com/ap/myAlbums.do?albumId=56947.1510.1160423866734.1

Sorry the pictures are so large.

Not perfect......but not bad for $300 off craigslist. It has a single coil pick up with a coil tap. It has 4 pedals and 3 knees. Pull/ release system.

Does anyone else have some Miller Pictures

Steve

Congratulations, Steve. Looks great. Mahogany, right? You don't see many mahogany PSGs. You must be pretty pleased with your results.

I was told that it was Honduran Mahogany on top with Walnut aprons. I'm not sure of the inlay.

Someone else asked about the Lye. Johnny Dilks told me about it. It chemically darkends the wood. You'll think I'm crazy but we used "Oven off." The primary ingedient is Lye. It works on woods with Acids in them, maple will not change color much if at all. We sprayed it on, it immediately changes color and then wiped it off. Done. Test it on scrap wood and see how it works.
I've seen some people give these guitars some bad comments, but they don't seem so bad to me.

Congrats on a very nice job Steve.

I rebuilt a Dekley D-10 so I know the time and effort it took to get it to this stage.
