Hi,

My Mullen RP string 1 change is on RKR and changes the pitch up a half tone. I've never found a good use for it and wonder if that is even a correct change. I've tried tuning the change up to a full step but that only raises the string up a half step too.
Any thoughts, advice is appreciated.

Raising it to G gives you the dominant 7th note for the A chord with A & B pedals down. If you want to raise it to G#, you may need to move the pull rod into a different hole in the bellcrank or changer. You may end up needing to increase the travel on that knee lever. Both raising it to G or raising to G# are very common changes.

Thanks Richard. This thing is complicated, lol. I always use string 7 with A&B pedals down for the dom7th. Will have to try it on the first string. Pardon my ignorance but what chords are easily made by changing it to go up to G?

I guess this is really a bigger question about strings 1&2 in general and how to best use them.

Chordally, it doesn't do an awful lot, but it can frequently play melodic roles.

Thanks Lane. I've been trying to get a better handle on how to use those first two strings during lead breaks or for fills, etc.
