I tried out a RAINS at St. Louis and fell in love with it, Can you believe it??? It seems like it played and had better eaisy action than any i'v played. Will let you know more after i play it some. This may be a keeper. I played it just messing around and was astonished. I tell people there are things i like about most steels i'v had. But the tone and the smooth soft buttery fell was awesome. I read some post about these where people said about the same thing. Gary Preston it looks like it will be a RAINS at your next steel show. I'll try to keep it atleast a month, LOL.
You guys that play these let us know what you think. I think Fred Justice told me he has already sold over 30 of these himself. The RKR lever that pulls the 2nd and 9th and i think the 10th also it worked so nice i couldn't hardly believe it. I was with Don Brown from NE Ohio and the seen all this also when he sat down to it.
Gary.

It only takes about five minutes behind a RAINS and you'll want one! Good service before and after the sale along with the builder, Gary Carpenter who builds one of the finest guitars on the market, make purchasing a RAINS a pleasure. It's all I play! I get more emails/calls thru my steel shop about a RAINS than I do anything else. Fine guitars!

Gary its on its way to you buddy. You made a good choice as this little black baby has tone to spare. To me all Rains guitars sound good but once in a while you'll run across a steel that has even better tone than the rest and that's the case here.
Enjoy it Gary as I know you will.

P.S. I e-mailed you the tracking number.

I,ve had mine a little over a year now and i'm amazed how it stays in tune, and the tone just keeps a smile on my face. The day i received it i just set it up and started playing it "unplugged" and i could'nt believe the tone it had, and the pedal action is so nice i don't even pay atention to them, while i'm playing. After 30+ yrs iv'e found one that fits me to a T.
Gary, you've got a great guitar on your hands and hope you enjoy it as much as i do mine.

Hey Gary, you are getting way to many steel guitars in your house that you will have to pitch a tent in the back yard to live and move about freely, and inviting women over for an evening dinner date will be tough to.

I received my second Rains SD10 4X5 today. This one is port red - a very pretty guitar. My first one, same set up, is a chestnut burl that I have had since July 05. I have nothing but good to say about these guitars and the people who make them. The burl has a GeorgeL E-ON, and the one I got today has a 10-1. The jury is still out on my choice, but initially I think the E-ON has a warmer tone and may win out. I get a lot of positive comments on the tone of my Rains.

Ol' Fred

Fred, They suprised the heck out of me. This one has the 10-1 and is great sounding. I would really like to have 5+6 but i can do that later. I like the E to F# on a pull by its self. Bob rains and Fred Justice and Don Brown all thought this has tone to spare. I'll probably play it at Mr. Gary Prestons Steel Jam here shortly. Hopefully my band can come and do a few tunes.
See Ya there!
Gary. P.S. Dont anyone try to buy it i want to keep it atleast a coupe months???????

Good luck Gary! Why don't you just give me back the GFI so you won't have to sell it? JP
