I am looking for some opinions on the Carter BCT technology from some of you with knowledge of this.
What should be different about the sound of the BCT guitar.

| I've had six Carters in the last three years or so. Still have a S-12U and a S-10D. The BCT is for real. You can take a Carter with BCT and play it w/o any effects other than a little reverb and it sounds good. Even though I'm a Rains dealer(new one), I sell and trade most brands of steel guitar through my steel shop. I don't usually keep a Carter with BCT very long. The only Carter I've kept for a while is a Carter Starter and I really hadn't tried to sell it. I guess I need to move it for around 500.00 or so. But yes, BCT works. |

I bought a new Carter back in October. The sustain is very nice and I found I don't have to work as hard when playing it.
My previous axe is a good old horse, but I was ready to reduce weight (from D10 to S12U). |

I recently purchased a used Carter SD-10 (BCT)with the George L pickup. It is one of the cleanest sound guitar's that I own. I could hardly believe how clean each string sounds. I am a die hard Emmons since the mid 70's and currently own 2 LaGrand III's. I chose the Carter because of the weight and compact size.
The Carter is a very well made guitar with quality built into it. Everything I read about the guitar on this forum is true. |

| I just got a Carter D-10 that was retrofitted with BCT, and I'm floored by it. I'd put it up against a Legrande any day. |

My Carter is a '97 before BCT but I have
a friend and former student with a SD10
with BCT. I have disconnected my guitar
and substituted his several times so that
same amp,effects, settings etc are relative to both......exactly.
Frankly I do not see any difference at all.
The important things are sound of the instrument and " will it stay in tune "?
I hardly ever tune my steel. I tweek it
before I record. Guitars I had before
my Carter were all a much different story.
It's such a pleasure to be able to play without constantly tuning.
The BCT was implemented in the design of
the Carter to further immulate the original
Emmons P/P sound. Many want that but then
again some do not.
We need to hear more of you Bill.
Whatever you play on will be fine.

| I'f you get a chance to play one do it! what I love is the ease to throw knee levers or pedals, going from a sho-bud to a new carter I really think the tone is a big improvement. Try to play one CARTERD10 |

I've had two PRE BCT D10's and now have an '04 D10 with the Body Contact Technology..
As far as action goes I feel they are very all similar but the BCT Guitar does have an edge.. as far as tone/sustain goes I feel the BCT Guitar has a bit more sustain...
All 3 had very fine Tone and performed very well...

| I found the difference between the non BCT Carter and the one with it to be considerable. There is definately a difference between the two guitars. The BCT changer has better tone and sustain period. The non BCT I had before was a good guitar but I wouldn't want to go back. I've had a Legrande II, Derby, Sho-Buds, Mullen, Marlin, and the Carter with the BCT is by far the best of them all. I will say the Legrande II was a good guitar with good tone and sustain but I prefer the Carter for the pedal action, light weight and sustain above the rest. |

| For example, if I have a Carter without BCT, and after I send back to the Carter factory to assemble the BCT part(s), then they what make with guitar? Is it a simple wood? Or they add a plus piece of wood for the body for the better sound? Nobody forget it, the Carters without BCT,...well, there is no BCT "part". Somebody will put it... |
