Anyone ever use this unit to record steel...

Appears to be a more colored type sounding pre, but really high end so I can't imagine it would be bad!
I have a couple old 1073 channel strips that I use for a lot of stuff, but I think i prefer the less colored api 3124V for recording steel. Could be that I'm already getting enough "color" from the steel itself, the vintage amp, and mics I'm using... Let us know how it goes.
