This version of The Chicken, a tune made famous by Jaco Pastorius, was recorded entirely on lap steel including the bass part, though none of it sounds like lap steel. It's just the way I like to play.

I used to see Jaco, Mike Stern, John Scofield etc weekly in the '80s in NYC clubs. They were and still are my heroes. This is how imagine them jamming on this at 55 Grand in the wee hours....

Mike, that was interesting and yet incredible. Did you use a synth patch on the lead tone? Just playing all the parts and putting it together is a labor of love. I feel the Scofield influence. Super cool.
