I just saw an auction on ebay for a 1972 NAMM catalog of these pedal steel guitars.. They looked VERY nice! Aluminum necks,,,humbuckers,Grovers,kinda looked to me to be halfway beween an old Emmons and Sho Bud in the looks department.
Anyone ever own or play one?? .. Just by looks they seemed like a very well made steel.... bob |

Bob! They were great lookng steels.
I owned two of them. String eaters a
nightmare to set up a nightmare to keep in
tune.You need a back like a two ton truck
to lift them.I think thos Miller steels
were made out of pig iron.Very HEAVY!
Just my 2 cents worth.

It was my first PSG and my last Miller...long ago. Let's put it this way, I wasn't sad to see it go.

| Set one up for a student a few months back-works like a push/pull Emmons or actually more like a pull/release Marlen-I got the thing to work well by "tuning the changer" before adjusting the pedals and rods-certainly not the finest horn I ever played but functional for a beginner |

My first steel was a Miller S-10. I had it for a few month's and the club burnt. Broken nose kinda deal. The guitar was smoke-damaged, so I took it all apart , and cleaned, polished, and re-finished everything. Learned all about it, and it still wouldn't stay, or play, in-tune!
Since I'd lost everything else in the fire, I was out of work, and couldn't make the payments. I was almost happy when the repo man showed up! |
