Replacing rod-ends on an older Zumsteel?

Post by Pat Dalberg »

Howdy all,

I've got an older Zumsteel, with the pedal rods attaching straight on to the top of the pedal, instead of on the side like the current ones. That little retractable collar thigamajig that springs over the ball-hitch recepticle on the pedal has siezed up on one of my pedals.

Has anybody run into this, and figured out a fix? I 'fought' it free the other day and put a little 3-in-1 in it, and it seemed to move freely, but now it is back to being stuck.

I called Bruce, to get some replacements, but he said he doesn't have anymore. Does anyone here have any spares they want to get rid of? Send me an email if so.

If no-one has fix, or a spare to sell, can I use one of these , A ball joint from George L?

Thanks in advance, y'all.

You can use the George L if it connects at the end instead of the side.

Scotty sells these in both the side pull and the straight in-line pull.
[This message was edited by Bob Tuttle on 20 July 2006 at 09:42 AM.]

Check with Bill Rudolph from Williams Guitars. He made center pull pedals for several years. He usually has parts. These are called pedal couplers BTW.

Be sure of the thread size of the rod before you order.

BMI also at one time used 'inline'
joints - check with Don Fritsche.

Pat,

I just recently had to replace the rod ends on my older Zum. I called Bruce and he told me to call George L. I called George L directly, told them what I needed and in just a few days I had them. I was very pleased with the service from George L.
