Marty Stuart can do honky tonk with the best of them. Here's "Red, Red Wine and Cheatin' Songs" from Marty's 1999 album "The Pilgrim". Scott Anderson's buddy Gary Hogue played steel on this one. Sadly we lost Gary way too young back in 2000. I tabbed out the whole song in case folks want to pick up a lick or fill here and there - Gary was a great steel player.
If you get the chance go see Marty Stuart in concert. I saw him several years ago and even without a steel player he killed it. His Clarence White tricked out Tele absolutely screamed and for country guitar lovers, Marty and "Cousin Kenny" Vaughan trading licks is a great nite out. I believe Doug Jernigan joined Marty for a few shows after I saw him.
***I took the tab from the album version but check out Scott Anderson's post of Gary playing it live with Marty. Scott and I tried to coordinate this so both of our topics will be right together.***
Have fun with some good kickin' honky tonk country Questions, corrections, and comments always welcome.

I am totally digging this, thanks to Jeff. Tabs of complete songs are rare and really nice to have.
I've seen Marty Stuart twice, blown away each time by him and his band. And he plays the original B-bender! The roadies put it out after the show so people can take a picture of it, kind of like a holy relic or something!

Thanks!
This is one of my favorite songs off The Pilgrim album! My friend Mick Conley is Marty's FOH engineer. I had the opportunity to meet Marty last year and told him that out of the hundreds of CDs in my collection (of all genres), if I could only listen to one country album for the rest of my life, the Pilgrim is it.
Last year, Marty was celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Pilgrim with a special tour. They released the album on vinyl and also added some bonus tracks that were not previously released along with a commemorative book. Great stuff!! You can go here to check it out:

Thanks so much for tabbing this out. Can't wait to work it out. I've always said that if I could play every lick that Gary plays on that album, I would have enough musical ammo in my Arsenal to last a lifetime. And you're absolutely right about Gary. I had just discovered his playing on that album shortly after he died. I couldn't believe his dad died on the same day and neither one knew about the other before they passed. Sad day for that family and for country music fans.
